Terms & Conditions

Last updated August 16, 2026

These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the Freestyle desktop app, this website, and related services (together, “Freestyle”). By downloading or using Freestyle, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

1. The software license

Freestyle is open-source software. Your right to use, copy, modify, and distribute the application itself is granted under the terms of its open-source license, which is included with the source code. Where that license and these terms differ regarding the software, the license controls.

2. Acceptable use

You agree to use Freestyle lawfully and responsibly. In particular, you will not:

  • Use Freestyle to record or transcribe anyone without the consent required by the laws that apply to you.
  • Connect an account you are not authorised to access, or use Freestyle to reach data you have no right to.
  • Use the assistant to send bulk unsolicited messages, or to act in a way that breaches the terms of a service you have connected.
  • Use it to break the law, infringe others' rights, or transmit unlawful or harmful content.
  • Misrepresent the software as your own original work in violation of its license.

3. Your content and the assistant's memory

Anything you write, dictate, or attach, and anything the assistant records on your behalf — notes, todos, the things you asked it to watch — is yours. We store it so the app works, we do not claim ownership of it, and you can read, edit, export, or delete it at any time. Our Privacy Policy explains what we hold and for how long.

4. Connected accounts

Freestyle can only reach an account you connect, with the permissions you approve at the time. You are responsible for having the right to connect that account and for complying with the terms of the service behind it. You can disconnect any account at any time, which stops our access going forward.

Where a connection uses your own API key, the relationship with that provider is yours: their terms, their fees, their limits.

5. Actions taken on your behalf

Freestyle can propose actions in your connected accounts — sending an email, posting a message, creating an event, making a purchase. It presents each one for your approval and carries it out only when you approve it. An action you approve is your action: it is sent under your account, in your name, and you are responsible for it as if you had done it by hand.

The assistant drafts using language models and can be wrong. Read what it proposes before approving it, particularly where the action spends money, contacts a third party, or cannot be undone. We are not responsible for the consequences of an action you approved.

Automated features depend on services outside our control and may be delayed, incomplete, or unavailable. Do not rely on Freestyle as the only safeguard for anything with a legal, financial, or medical deadline.

6. Third-party model providers

If you connect Freestyle to a third-party transcription provider, you are responsible for your own account, API keys, and any fees those providers charge. Your use of their services is subject to their terms and policies, and we are not responsible for those services or their availability, accuracy, or billing.

7. Intellectual property

The Freestyle name, logo, and brand are ours and may not be used in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation without permission. This does not limit any rights granted to the source code under its open-source license.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

Freestyle is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of transcription, correctness of anything the assistant drafts or proposes, and non-infringement. You use it at your own risk.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Freestyle maintainers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) Freestyle.

10. Changes to Freestyle and these terms

We may update, change, or discontinue parts of Freestyle, and we may revise these terms from time to time. When we update the terms, we'll change the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Freestyle after a change means you accept the revised terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable where the Freestyle project is operated, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Nothing here limits any rights you may have under mandatory consumer-protection laws in your place of residence.
