Privacy Policy

The short version

• You choose what it can reach. Freestyle only reads accounts you explicitly connect, and only the scopes you approve when you connect them. Disconnect one at any time and access stops.
• It does not act on its own. Anything that sends, posts, buys, or changes something in a connected account is drafted and shown to you first. It happens when you approve it, and not before.
• It keeps a memory, and you can read it. Notes, todos, and the things you have asked it to watch are stored as plain text on your account. You can view, edit, and delete any of it.
• Your conversations are stored so the app can show you history. You can delete a conversation, and deleting your account removes them.
• Dictation still works the way it always did. Local models never leave your machine; cloud transcription is transient and we do not keep the audio.
• We never sell your personal data, and we never use your content or connected-account data to train models.

What the assistant can read

Freestyle can only reach an account after you connect it and approve the permissions that connection asks for. Connections are brokered by our integration provider, Composio, which handles the OAuth flow and holds the resulting access tokens on our behalf. Where a service has no managed OAuth option, you supply your own API key instead.

Today the app can connect to Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack, GitHub, Notion, and Linear, along with a wider catalogue of tools reachable through MCP. Each connection is scoped to what that integration needs. Freestyle reads from a connected account to check the things you have asked it to watch, and it writes to one only through an action you have approved.

You can see every connected account in the app and disconnect any of them. Disconnecting revokes our access going forward and removes the stored credential. It does not by itself erase notes the assistant already wrote from that account; you can delete those separately, or delete your account to remove everything.

Approval before action

Freestyle is built so that reading is automatic and acting is not. When it wants to send an email, post a message, book time, buy something, or otherwise change state somewhere, it prepares the action and shows you exactly what would happen — the recipient, the content, the account it would use. Nothing is carried out until you approve that specific action.

We record that an action was approved and carried out so the app can show you a history of what it has done on your behalf.

What we store

Running an assistant that remembers means we hold more than a transcription service would. Concretely, on your account we store:

• The assistant's memory. Notes, todos, and the things you have told it to watch, kept as plain text you can read and edit in the app.
• Your conversations. The messages between you and the assistant, plus a short generated title, so the app can show your history.
• Files you attach. Anything you attach to a conversation is stored in object storage so it can be shown again later.
• Your account and preferences. Name, email address, and the profile image from whichever provider you signed in with, plus your settings and, for teams, your organisation membership.
• Usage counts. A running total of credits consumed, with the reason for each entry, so we can apply plan limits and bill accurately.

We do not keep a copy of your mailbox, calendar, or documents. The assistant reads a connected account when it needs to, and what persists is what it wrote down — the note, the todo, the reminder — not the source material.

Model providers

Freestyle uses large language models to understand what you ask for and to draft what it proposes. Model calls are routed through OpenRouter, which forwards the request to the model you or we have selected. That request contains the part of the conversation and the memory needed to answer it, and may contain content the assistant has read from a connected account.

We contract for your content not to be used to train models. If you supply your own API key for a provider, your requests go to that provider under your own account and their terms apply to them.

Dictation and Remix

Freestyle still includes voice dictation and Remix, and they work the way they always have. When you use a local model such as whisper.cpp or Qwen3 ASR, transcription runs entirely on your machine and the audio never reaches us.

When you use our cloud transcription, the audio is sent over an encrypted connection, transcribed, returned to you, and discarded. We do not retain recordings or transcripts of cloud dictation. You may also connect a third-party transcription provider with your own API key, in which case the audio goes from your device to that provider under your own account.

Your account

Using Freestyle requires a free account. When you sign in with Google, GitHub, or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and profile image from that provider so we can identify you and secure your data. We do not receive your password.

If you are part of a team, an administrator of your organisation can see membership and aggregate usage for the account. They cannot read your conversations or the assistant's memory.

Diagnostics

We collect crash, error, and performance diagnostics through Sentry so we can find and fix reliability problems. This data is about how the app behaves — errors and performance signals — not the content of your conversations, dictation, or connected accounts. You can turn desktop diagnostics off in the app's settings.

Payments

Paid plans are billed through Stripe. Stripe processes your payment details directly; we receive the subscription status and the last four digits of the card, and never see the full card number.

This website

When you visit freestylevoice.com, our hosting provider processes standard request data such as your IP address and browser type to serve pages and protect against abuse. We use essential cookies and reCAPTCHA on the contact form to filter automated submissions.

How we share data

We do not sell your personal data and we never share it for advertising. We share the data described above only with the service providers that make Freestyle work:

• Composio, to broker connections to your other accounts and hold the resulting tokens.
• OpenRouter and the model providers it routes to, to generate the assistant's responses.
• Cloudflare, which hosts our services, database, and file storage.
• Stripe, for payments on paid plans.
• Sentry, for crash, error, and performance diagnostics.

Each of these processes data on our instructions, for the purpose above, and nothing else. We may also disclose data where the law requires it.

How long we keep data

• The assistant's memory and your conversations: kept until you delete them or close your account.
• Connected-account credentials: kept until you disconnect that account.
• Audio and transcripts from cloud dictation: not retained.
• Account, settings, and organisation records: kept while your account is active, and removed when you close it.
• Usage counts and billing records: kept as long as we need them for accounting and tax obligations.
• Diagnostics: kept for a limited period, then deleted or aggregated.

Security

We encrypt data in transit, scope every connection to the permissions you approved, and hold connected-account credentials with our integration provider rather than in our own application database. Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it.

We are pursuing SOC 2 Type 2 and HIPAA compliance. For teams with stricter requirements, we can discuss isolated or self-hosted deployment and a Business Associate Agreement. No system is ever perfectly secure, and we design Freestyle to hold as little as it can while still being useful.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. Much of this you can do yourself in the app: read and edit the assistant's memory, delete a conversation, disconnect an account, or close your account entirely. For anything else, write to us and we will help.

Freestyle is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes to this policy

As Freestyle grows, we may update this policy. When we make a meaningful change, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, tell you in the app or on our website.
